Ranchi: Narayana Health group of hospitals, which was founded by Dr Devi Shetty in 2000, has moved a note to the state health department early this week for running the Sadar’s super-specialty wing under public private partnership (PPP)

The department sources said the hospital group has also forwarded a concept note highlighting its preliminary plans for the 550-bed super-specialty infrastructure. A representative of the group is expected to meet chief minister Raghubar Das in early September and conduct a primary inspection of the facility here.

Narayana Health is one among few private hospital chains whom the Jharkhand government invited to the CM’s investment promotion road show in Bengaluru and Hyderabad on July19.

Confirming Narayana’s approach, additional chief secretary of health K Vidyasagar said the department was open to discussions with the private stakeholders. However, he did not clarify about the health department’s plan of running the facility on its own.

The future of the Rs 220 crore facility has been uncertain since its completion in 2013. New Delhi based Medanta Group of hospitals had shown interest in the facility in early 2015. However, the Dr Naresh Trehan founded hospital chain withdrew its proposal after conducting an initial examination of the unused facility, rendering it unfit for super-specialty usage.
